This certification allows non-profit private schools, public schools and libraries to receive discounts of up to 90% on their monthly telecommunications costs, subsidized by the government.

This certification allows non-profit private schools, public schools and libraries to receive discounts of up to 90% on their monthly telecommunications costs, subsidized by the government.
Schools and libraries who leverage brightstack®’s solution benefit from a per user per month fee for voice services; which include the features common with today’s phone systems, plus built-in Business Continuity.
E-rate provides discounts of 20 % to 90 % for eligible telecommunications services, depending on the economic need and location (urban or rural) of the school or library. The level of discount is based on the percentage of students eligible for participation in the National School Lunch Program or other federally approved alternative mechanisms. (Non-public schools and others not participating in the National School Lunch Program can use federally approved alternative mechanisms contained in the Improving America's Schools Act. About the e-Rate Program
The E-rate program is administered by the Schools and Libraries Division (SLD) of the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC). The program was set up in 1997 when the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) adopted a Universal Service Order implementing the Telecommunications Act of 1996. The Order was designed to ensure that all eligible schools and libraries have affordable access to modern telecommunications and information services. Discounts can be applied to commercially available telecommunications services, Internet access and internal connections. Eligible services range from basic local and long distance phone services and Internet access services to acquisition and installation of equipment to provide internal connections. Under the E-rate program up to $2.25 billion is available annually to provide eligible schools and libraries with discounts for authorized services. For more information pleas visit the SD site. January 18, 2013 – brightstack®, LLC (http://www.brightstack.com) , a Technology Service provider based in New York, NY, announced that the organization is seeking to hire additional engineers since they have been awarded a training grant from the City of New York. The New York City Business Solutions office (http://www.nyc.gov) provides training grants to business throughout the city. Through the program, brightstack® will be providing certification training to existing employees and new hires. The grant provides for ShoreTel engineers to receive between 160 and 340 hours of training in the first year, including ShoreTel Basic, Advanced, Mobility and Contact Center. Engineers will also receive between 120 and 340 hours of CCNA, MCSA, VCP and CSSA (Basic and Advanced) training.
The grant will enable brightstack® to train engineers who have skills in other technologies, such as Nortel, Avaya, Microsoft or Cisco and are looking to become ShoreTel engineers. Furthermore, engineers with some ShoreTel experience who are looking to move into advanced roles will benefit from the training grant.
